IT Scholarship Award

main campus of California State University Sacramento

The modern business environment has produced an increasing demand for IT specialists who can manage and utilize the extensive amounts of data created within organizations. Proficient Management Information Systems (MIS) experts have an integral role in businesses as they analyze data so companies can make better decisions and enhance the efficiency of their processes. To encourage and support students in pursuing careers in MIS, Estrada Consulting Inc. (ECI) has provided an MIS scholarship award for students of the College of Business at California State University, Sacramento.

ECI’s President, Rafael Estrada, explains, “We endeavor to inspire and uplift the next generation of IT professionals. Our enduring partnership with CSU Sacramento reflects our dedication to fostering community growth and paving the way for emerging talent to thrive in the dynamic tech sector.”

Promoting Software Leadership

Software development is an important part of an IT scholarship because it provides a foundation for a graduate to learn how to manage and utilize information in an organization. The MIS program at California State University includes courses like custom software development, web development, mobile application development, and business systems. Students enrolled in the MIS program participate in real-world projects where they apply practical skills like programming and learn to enhance processes like enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

Another important skill is securing digital systems. Due to increasing threats to information systems and a growing dependence on these systems, learning cybersecurity has become essential for MIS students. The MIS program teaches students about tools to safeguard information systems. The IT scholarship awarded by ECI includes aspects like encryption techniques, securing organizational systems, and managing cybersecurity risks. The skills learned in the MIS program prepare graduates for technical and managerial roles in organizations.

The Business Aspect of IT Leadership

By combining strategic management with technical skills, the MIS scholarship prepares graduates for leadership roles. Students learn the importance of how IT systems like data warehouses and dashboards improve decision-making and help them gain a competitive advantage for their organization.

In addition to leading ECI, Mr. Estrada is a distinguished MBA graduate from Sacramento State, and he actively contributes to the university’s Professional Pathways Networking Program by mentoring students in business leadership. This new scholarship further strengthens ECI’s longstanding partnership with the school.

The MIS scholarship essentially enables graduates to gain software leadership skills by teaching them to align business goals with technology. In addition, the IT scholarship awarded by ECI helps graduates build interpersonal skills required to lead teams and implement solutions. In conjunction with technology, graduates are also taught to understand other disciplines in an organization like marketing, finance, and operations.

Empowering Students in MIS Careers

The goal of the scholarship from ECI is to support students who have an interest in IT and data analytics. Students with exceptional academic achievements are rewarded and they are presented with opportunities to participate in real-world projects, allowing them to develop industry-related experience. This new scholarship provides support for students to succeed in MIS programs, allowing them to become leaders in business and technology.
